Located in Western Uganda, Queen Elizabeth Park supports a range of wildlife and accounts for over 95 mammal species, 10 primate and 620 bird species. You will enjoy a game drive through its enriching Kasenyi game track and during en-route journey at Ishasha. A launch/boat cruise will be enjoyed along the Kazinga channel and this area connects two lakes –Lake George and Edward. It is an area where you will have clear view of hippos, crocodiles and aquatic birds.

From Queen Elizabeth Park, you will cross to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the extreme Southwestern part of Uganda. This park covers the land area of 331sq.km and is where over 22 habituated mountain gorilla groups live. The park protects over 120 mammal species, 220 butterflies, 27 chameleon species, 350 bird species and more than 1000 flowering plants. It will be in this park where you will experience the best of mountain gorilla trekking as per this itinerary.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up at the hotel in Kampala & drive to Queen Elizabeth Park, boat cruise

After the morning breakfast, meet your driver guide in Uganda. Get a short briefing about your road trip and you will set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s 2nd biggest National Park. It will be 7-8 hours’ drive journey to Queen Elizabeth Park and on arrival, you will check in your lodge.

Have lunch served to you from your respective lodges and later, you will proceed to Kazinga channel for a boat cruise. The Kazinga channel will run for 2-3 hours and expect to see lots of aquatic life, especially hippos, crocodiles and aquatic birds. After the launch cruise, return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive on Kasenyi track & drive to Bwindi

A hefty breakfast will be enjoyed at the comfort of your lodge and after, you will proceed with sunrise game drive. Today’s game viewing expedition will be done along Kasenyi plains with an experienced guide. It will be 2-3 hours but enriching, especially as you get surprising sights of spotted hyenas, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, lions, and a lot more.

From Kasenyi, drive back to the lodge and enjoy an early lunch. Check out and you will head off to the next destination –Bwindi National Park. This includes driving via Ishasha and while here, you will engage in a short game drive. At Ishasha, keep eyes on the unique tree climbing lions and other animals.

From Ishasha, you will connect at ease to Bwindi where you will check in your accommodation for relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla trek with Bwindi Park ranger guide & Batwa cultural experience

Today, you will be expected at Buhoma offices for briefing and meaning, you will need to get up early to prepare. Before you leave the lodge, ensure that you have some pack of lunch, bottled drinking water and every essential required for your gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi.

Get briefed by the park official and learn what to do and not to do as you search for mountain gorillas. After the 7:00am briefing, exit for actual trek to see Bwindi gorillas starting at around 8:00am. The trek with Bwindi gorillas will go for 2-6 hours which includes an hour for up close and personal encounter.

Walk back from the jungles and you will connect to the lodge for relaxation. After, you may pay a visit to the Batwa community to have a deep insight on the ancient ways of the Batwa pygmies’ life.

Day 4: Departure from Bwindi

Leave Bwindi National Park in the morning after breakfast and check out of your respective accommodation. Drive back to Kampala and today’s journey will go for 8-9 hours via Kabale-Mbarara route with stopover expected to be made at the Equator crossing. You will be dropped off at the hotel in Kampala/Entebbe city and today marks the end of this trip.
